Now that school is back in session for many local students, Stonehouse Coffee and Bar on South Lamar Boulevard is offering a special that will keep teachers caffeinated.
Between 6:30 to 8 a.m. Mondays through Fridays, the coffee shop is offering $1 coffee or tea for all teachers. The new ongoing special honors the first residents of the historic building where Stonehouse is located and from which it took its name.
The small stone house that was designated as a city and state landmark was originally the residence of sisters Mary and Nannie Dawson, who were pioneer teachers in the free public school system as well as real estate developers, according to the historical marker at the front of the building.
Last year, FBR Management — which also owns local bars like the neighboring Gibson Street Bar — took over the space and transformed it into a coffee shop and bar with Cuvee Coffee, Mighty Leaf teas, Quack’s Bakery pastries, local beers like (512) IPA as well as wine and gelato.
Stonehouse is located at 1105 S. Lamar Blvd. For more information, visit stonehouseaustin.com.
