Two of Austin’s most promising food trucks, Soursop and LeRoy and Lewis, have created a four-course dinner that masterfully fuses their two cuisines.
Paired with beers from St. Elmo Brewing [Body Text]-->— including one brewed especially for the dinner [Body Text]-->— the collaborative effort mixes Southeast Asian flavors from Soursop with elements of smoke from barbecue-focused LeRoy and Lewis.
The $78 dinner starts at 6 p.m. June 19 (a Monday, so that you can have a satisfying start to your week for once). Creative courses include smoked duck proscuitto and smoked duck and foie dumplings.
Plus, each course will come with a St. Elmo beer, like the specially brewed Sichuan Saison that St. Elmo’s head brewer Bryan Winslow made with the blessing of Nathan Lewis of the in-the-works LeRoy and Lewis brick-and-mortar space.
Lewis and his wife, Sawyer, have teamed up with pitmaster Evan LeRoy, formerly of Freedmen’s, to open their own space, a barbecue and brewpub concept. For now, the trio is getting the LeRoy and Lewis name out there, with the tagline of ‘new school barbecue, old school service,’ using a food truck.
Soursop, the dream of Chef Teddy Bricker, is permanently parked in the beer garden at St. Elmo Brewing, in the mixed-use complex off South Congress Avenue known as the Yard. (Other boozy spots like Spokesman and the Austin Winery are also there.)
Can’t make this beer dinner? How do you feel about a wine-fueled brunch?
Another chance to taste LeRoy and Lewis’ barbecue is this weekend at the Infinite Monkey Theorem, farther north off South Congress, which will open early at 11 a.m. Sunday for Second Sunday Brunch with LeRoy and Lewis.
The food truck will be parked outside the winery and will have special brunch offerings like barbacoa hash. And no, it won’t be too early for a glass of wine — or, might we suggest, a glass of the wine slushy with moscato and merlot.
