In news that has nothing to do with Austin, but will make your tween daughter’s day, it’s pop diva day on your favorite streaming music service. Today Katy Perry released her new album “Witness” which she’s been promoting heavily all year with high profile appearances that include a somewhat bizarre set of performances on the season finale of “Saturday Night Live.”

And Katy Perry opened up about the situation when she did Carpool Karaoke with James Corden a couple weeks back.
The important news for Austinites, is that Katy Perry’s tour to promote the album snubbed Austin with Texas stops in Houston, Dallas and San Antonio. But we suspect this could be setting Perry up for a high profile appearance as headliner for next year’s Formula One festivities.
Last year the race hosted the only performance of the year from…you guessed it…Taylor Swift.
