An Austinite has a starring role on primetime TV Tuesday night.

Eric Zapata, 23, a freelance special effects makeup artist, is among the contestants this season on "Face Off," a reality competition that airs on the Syfy cable network.

If Zapata looks familiar, that’s because he was featured last season, as well. The time around, the show, which is entering its fifth season, is pitting eight "Face Off" veterans against eight up-and-comers.

The rookies include another Texan, 33-year-old El Paso resident Lymari "Lyma" Millot.

Each week, Zapata, Millot and their fellow contestants will be given a new challenge, testing their skills with special effects makeup.

The winner gets $100,000 and a new car, among other prizes.

Catch "Face Off" at 8 p.m. on Syfy, Time Warner Cable channels 58, 535 and 1666.
