KXAN didn’t have to look far to find its new evening newscaster.

Investigative reporter Shannon Wolfson will co-anchor the NBC affiliate’s 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. newscasts alongside Robert Hadlock beginning Dec. 2, the station announced today.

Wolfson and Hadlock will also anchor the 9 p.m. newscast on sister station KNVA.

A University of Texas graduate who started at KXAN in 2006, Wolfson takes the spot being vacated by Leslie Rhode.

Rhode announced last month that she was leaving KXAN in search of a job with a more family-friendly schedule. Her final day at the station will be Nov. 27.

"I’ve been so honored and humbled to be part of this team of incredible journalists at KXAN for the last seven years," Wolfson said. "I’m beyond excited about this new opportunity and look forward to continuing my investigative reporting, as well."
