Austin, it’s time to get "Real."

Yep, MTV’s "Real World" is heading to Central Texas yet again for auditions.

The reality show has a strong connection to Austin. Several contestants have come from our area over the years and, a decade ago, the "Real World" cast briefly called downtown home.

Hopefuls for the upcoming season must be between 20 and 24 years old, according to Bunim-Murray Productions, the company behind the long-running show.

Auditions will be Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Little Woodrow’s, 520 W. Sixth St.

"Real World" isn’t the first reality show to zero in on Austin, and it certainly won’t be the last. So, I asked Bunim-Murray casting manager Megan Sleeper what makes our city so appealing.

"Austin is a major city full of vibrant and unique people," she said. "Also, our casting calls draw a big crowd from big universities like the University of Texas at Austin. Austin is full of life and is a great city to find people with diverse passions and lifestyles. We’re looking for people from all backgrounds who have a variety of life experiences under their belt, and we always find Austin delivers an interesting mix of people."

If you’re looking to stand out Tuesday, Sleeper has some advice.

"The best thing to do in a casting call is be honest and be yourself," she said. "We’re look for outgoing, charismatic people who are not afraid to share their story."
