The death of a former Austin TV news reporter whose body was discovered inside her Milwaukee-area home has been ruled accidental.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel newspaper reports Asa George, who worked for YNN from 1999 to 2002, was unconscious in a bathtub filled with water when emergency crews found her earlier this month.
The house was "messy and covered with blood and feces," a pair of empty vodka bottles and several prescription medicines were observed, and an emaciated dog was found, as well.
The discovery was reportedly made after George’s relatives contacted police, concerned they hadn’t heard from her in several days.
A report from the medical examiner’s office, obtained by the Journal Sentinel, concluded George’s death wasn’t caused by drowning or by a cut on her head.
Relatives told the newspaper George had battled alcoholism in recent years.
After leaving YNN, George, a 2001 University of Texas graduate, worked for stations in Lincoln, Neb., and Dayton, Ohio, before winding up at the CBS affiliate in Milwaukee, according to her LinkedIn profile.
