Former Austin TV news reporter Foti Kallergis has landed a new gig in Houston.

He started work at ABC-owned KTRK, the city’s top-rated TV station, on Oct. 1, helping fill in for newsroom staffers who are out on maternity leave. The temporary assignment is expected to wrap up around the end of the year.

"It’s an honor to be a part of such a legendary news station and serve the town where I was born and raised," Kallergis told me. "During my college years, I interned at KTRK, so coming back is a full-circle moment for me in my career."

In Austin, Kallergis spent five years at Fox-owned KTBC before leaving in early 2012 to help start a family business. More recently, he popped up on KVUE, our local ABC affiliate, doing some fill-in work earlier this year.
