The band is getting back together. Ten years after the release of the hilarious, family-friendly "The School of Rock," filmmaker and Richard Linklater, writer-actor Mike White and star Jack Black reunite for an anniversary screening at the Paramount Theatre.
The Austin Film Society and Cirrus Logic will present the screening on August 29 at 7 p.m., with a VIP after-party with cast and crew to follow at the Gibson Austin Showroom (3601 S. Congress Ave., Suite G400 in Penn Field). The band from the movie will reunite and play a special performance at the party.
Tickets for the screening start at $15 for AFS members and $25 for non-members. Orchestra tickets to the screening plus VIP after-party tickets cost $140 for members and $160 for non-members.
White, who most recently wrote, produced and starred in the HBO series "Enlightened," will also participate AFS’s signature Moviemaker Dialogues program on August 28 at AFS, where he will discuss a writing career that also includes "Nacho Libre" and "The Good Girl." Moviemaker Dialogues are free to AFS members. For more information, visit AustinFilm.org/SchoolOfRock.
