Fall is approaching, and that means lots of fitness events on the calendar. Here are two worth mentioning:Want to run a 5K, fund cancer research and check out a giant, walk-through model of a brain, all at the same time? Head to the Brain Power 5K. The race, which supports the Dr. Marnie Rose Foundation for Brain Cancer Research at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, is scheduled for Sept. 8 at Williamson County Regional Park. The Kids’ K starts at 8 a.m. followed by the fun run and walk at 8:30 a.m. A post race celebration will include kids’ activities and a silent auction. The event is presented by Austin Cancer Centers and sponsored by the Khudairi Group and Novocure. To register or donate go to http://BrainPower5K.com/ or https://www.facebook.com/BrainPower5K.The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network will host the 2013 PurpleStride Austin 5K on Sept. 14.
