Another cookbook geared toward athletes landed on my desk recently.
"The Athlete’s Cookbook," with the mid-sections of two extremely fit-looking people plastered across its cover, includes recipes for everything from fennel, dill and black-eyed pea soup to mango tart with cardamom and saffron.
The book, by Corey Irwin and Brett Stewart, features more than 100 recipes in all - and not all of them involve beans!
It also tells you what foods are good for different reasons. Mussels marinara spaghetti increases glycogen stores, walnut-Parmesan chicken gives you a wallop of protein, and peanut butter crunch bars provide healthy fats, according to the cover. The book also includes day-by-day meal plans and advice on the pre- and post-workout nutrition.
