The winners of the fourth annual Good Food Awards, one of the most prestigious artisan food competitions in the country, were announced at a ceremony in San Francisco last night.
Of the nearly 1,500 entries from 32 states vetted by some 225 judges, half a dozen of the winners were from Texas, with five coming from Central Texas.
Past winners Pogue Mahone Pickles and Confituras won again this year, for Dill & Garlic Pickles and Pickled Blueberries, respectively. In the beer competition, Independence Brewing Company’s Independence Ale and Jester King Brewery’s Atrial Rubicite & RU-55 Barrel-Aged Sour Red won awards. The Jelly Queens’ Blood Orange Marmalade was honored in the preserves category, as were Garden Dreams Houston’s Peaches and Dream.
There were no Texas winners in the spirits, olive oils, coffee, chocolate, cheese, charcuterie or confections categories.
