Hank Shaw to cook from new book at Foreign & Domestic

Hank Shaw, the cookbook author and James Beard-winning blogger, will be cooking Monday at Foreign & Domestic, 306 E. 53rd St., in part to help promote "Duck, Duck, Goose: The Ultimate Guide to Cooking Waterfowl, Both Farmed and Wild" (Ten Speed Press, $24.99), the follow-up to his popular 2011 debut "Hunt, Gather, Cook."

Joining Shaw will be Foreign & Domestic chef Ned Elliott and Austin’s Jesse Griffiths, a fellow hunter turned cookbook author. Tickets for the 6 p.m. or 8:30 p.m. seatings cost $55, and you can buy them and find out more at fndaustin.com/hank-shaw-dinner.

Somms Under Fire returns on Sunday

The third annual Somms Under Fire, a wine and food pairing event that matches top sommeliers with local restaurants, will take place from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the AT&T Executive Education & Conference Center, 1900 University Ave. Attendees will get to sample wines, as well as food from Shawn Cirkiel of Parkside and the soon-to-open Chavez, and VIP ticket holders will have early access to a Burgundy tasting led by Peter Wasserman of Becky Wasserman Selections.
