Dojo Sake Bar and Izakaya has opened at 9070 Research Blvd. The restaurant features a menu of fried (tomato croquette, chicken kara-age and kewpie shrimp), steamed (whitefish, drunken clams) and grilled (pork cheek and spinach) dishes, along with limited sushi offerings and both a miso and vegan miso ramen. In Izakaya tradition, the Dojo serves a host of alcohols (wine, sake, beer, sake-based cocktails and liquor) and is open very late. The Dojo celebrates its opening with a party Saturday at 8 p.m. that include a teppan cook-off, sake tasting, sake carafe painting and origami lessons. Briarcliff Bistro and Bacon Bar is now open at 108 Pace Bend Rd. near Pace Bend Park. The restaurant serves classic (potato skins) and non-traditional (pineapple-stuffed jalapenos wrapped in bacon) bar appetizers, salads, burgers and sandwiches (like their Infamous BLT, which features 10 slices of bacon).
