The Paramount and Stateside Theatres have announced the lineup for the fall/winter 2013-2014 season. In addition to comedy and other non-music acts, the season will feature several music events, including Esperanza Spalding, the Doobie Brothers and Mary Chapin Carpenter and Shawn Colvin. OCTOBER 15

ABYSSINIAN: A GOSPEL CELEBRATION

Featuring JAZZ AT LINCOLN CENTER ORCHESTRA with WYNTON MARSALIS

Never has Marsalis melded the codes of sacred and secular expression more successfully than with the 2008 extended work Abyssinian Mass, commissioned to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Abyssinian Baptist Church in Harlem. Now, Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra revisits this masterwork, adding the 70-voice gospel choir, Chorale Le Chateau, all conducted by Damien Sneed. You’ll soar to new heights hearing this inspirational and awe-inspiring performance.

ACS - GERI ALLEN, TERRI LYNE CARRINGTON AND ESPERANZA SPALDING

If you happened to see Esperanza’s show here last year, you know what we are talking about - and now we are bringing you even more. ACS gathers three of the most important female instrumentalists in current jazz. This ensemble stretches boundaries and revels in the art form. The trio is elegant, experimental, and unquestionably bold - sure to be an acoustic listening joy in the Paramount’s intimate setting.

THE DOOBIE BROTHERS

The legendary Doobie Brothers on the Paramount’s legendary stage? Could we ask for anything more? An aggressive and emotional performance, evocative storytelling, unapologetic attitude and world-class musicianship, this performance will engage, enthrall and take you in unexpected new directions.

NOVEMBER 6

MARY CHAPIN CARPENTER & SHAWN COLVIN

Carpenter and Colvin performing together, as a duo, mixing their winsome voices on songs from each of their deep catalogues, as well as covers of some of their favorites. It really doesn’t get much better than this - another perfect show for the acoustically perfect Paramount. A can’t-miss, musical experience!

JANUARY 16

ANN HAMPTON CALLAWAY SINGS STREISAND

A renowned jazz and cabaret performer, Ann has played the best listening rooms in New York City and beyond - while always brings fresh interpretations to the timeless classics. In this performance, she celebrates Barbara Streisand’s five decades in the spotlight, from her Broadway years to her film works, from her early pop albums to her later concept albums. Callaway does Streisand, all in what we consider Austin’s best listening room - Stateside at the Paramount.

JANUARY 19

COREA & FLECK 2013 WORLD TOUR

Two of the most gifted and adventurous improvisers in the world on their respective instruments, pianist Chick Corea (18 Grammys®) and banjo player Béla Fleck (15 Grammys®) unite for an evening of duets. We can’t wait, and neither should you, to hear this duo’s mind-boggling sound resonate with the Paramount’s acoustic perfection. An evening of jazz, bluegrass, classical and everything in between.

From 1952 through 1982 the velvet voice of Ray Price recorded more than eighty hits that soared into the Country Music Top Forty, along with numerous crossover hits. Now in his 80’s and still going strong, this innovative stylist leaves his East Texas ranch to play as few as 100 dates per year and we are lucky enough to bring him to you. A true genius.
