Former Trace executive pastry chef and James Beard Award semi-finalist Janina O’Leary has joined the team at upcoming restaurant laV (1501 E. 7th St.).
The French-focused restaurant and wine bar helmed by managing partner and sommelier, Vilma Mazaite, and executive chef Allison Jenkins is set to open in very early 2014. LaV will initially serve dinner Tuesday through Saturday and Sunday brunch. They plan to offer lunch in the future.
"My pastry program for laV will consist of rustic breads, pastries, seasonal and light-hearted desserts," said O’Leary, who has worked in highly esteemed restaurants such as Daniel and Per Se. "I will, of course, continue to focus on flavor, ingredients and technique while showcasing brand new desserts that are different from what I have done in the past."
While preparing for the opening of their restaurant, Mazaite and Jenkins have operated food truck Say laV. The truck will go on hiatus December 1, as the laV team focuses on opening the restaurant. The plan is to re-open the trailer after the restaurant opens, but no date has been set.
