With two full weekends of ACL Fest looming in the not-too-distant-hopefully-cooler future, it’s time to start digging into the lineup, so once again we start our daily band briefs.
From: Los Angeles, Calif.
ACL set: 4 p.m. Sat., Samsung Galaxy
In 50 words, give or take: If the band behind "Panic Switch" had their own genre, it would be "paranoia rock." Last year’s "Neck of the Woods" oozes with slinky, high-energy menace and a little electronic mischief. Bottom line, the Silversun Pickups put on a good ol’ fashioned rock show that also makes you feel like you’re being chased barefoot through a dark alley.
Could share a bill with: Smashing Pumpkins, Depeche Mode, Metric, The Joy Formidable
Nomenclature: The bands gets their name from a liquor store back home.
