Dale Watson’s fans have had a campaign to get him booked on "Austin City Limits," the longest running music program on TV, which started out booking mostly country music, but is now all over the musical map. Watson finally got his wish yesterday when he found out he’s been booked for the show for a Nov. 25 taping.Watson’s career is on a roll, as he recently played on the David Letterman show and is in heavy rotation on XM’s Outlaw Country. Watson also recently took over Ginny’s Little Longhorn on Burnet Road and is paying for renovations.
Sharing the taping at ACL Live at the Moody Theater is 25-year-old East Texan Kacey Musgraves, whose debut single "Merry Go Round" led to impressive album sales for "Same Trailer Different Park." Musgraves is up for four Academy of Country Music awards.
"ACL" spokesperson Maury Sullivan said there will be two more tapings after Watson/ Musgraves to close out the 39th season. The TV show will be the subject of a documentary to mark the 40th anniversary.
