Forget about the bands. The hardest working guys and gals at the Austin City Limits Music Festival are, hands down, the pedicabbers.

An estimated 500 pedicabs are on the streets of Austin this weekend, shuttling scores of festival-goers to and from Zilker Park.

By day’s end, Deina Laird said she expects to make about 30 trips, earning $10 per passenger – plus tips.

It’s hard work, but Laird says working special events such as ACL Fest is always a blast.

"You get to see so many interesting things," she said Saturday afternoon.

But one thing Laird and others don’t get to see is the bands rocking the Zilker stages. She’s OK with that, though.

"It’s still fun," she said. "I get to live vicariously through other folks."
