John LaCaze opened Rougarou Gumbo at 1909 U.S. 183 in Leander this week. The small shop serves Louisiana staples gumbo, jambalaya, and red beans and rice ($4 cup, $6 bowl). The joint, named after the legendary swamp werewolf in Louisiana, is open Monday-Saturday from 11 a.m. until LaCaze sells out.
Chen Z Noodle House from Chen’s Noodle House Ronald Chen opened at 6705 W. U.S. 290. The restaurant has a menu similar to the original Chen’s Noodle House on Spicewood Springs Road. It is open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. You may remember the Chen Z name from the hot pot restaurant Chen helped open on Anderson Lane that now goes by the name Shabu Shabu.
