The early birds get the bands at KGSR’s annual live broadcasts during SXSW: More than two dozen acts are scheduled for the morning shows March 12-15, including folk veteran Suzanne Vega, Southern California rockers The Mowgli’s, Minneapolis favorites The Hold Steady, rising indie outfit Lucius and Manchester, England, sensation The 1975.

The shows, held in a standing-room-only hall at the W, begin at 6 a.m. Wednesday-Friday, March 12-14, and at 8 p.m. on Saturday, March 15. A suggested donation of $5 at the door goes to Make-A-Wish Central & South Texas.

Most of the performers booked are touring acts in town for the festival. A notable exception is local mainstay Bob Schneider, who closes out the Wednesday lineup. Schneider also performed live on KGSR last night for Roger Allen’s weekly "Lone Star State of Mind" program, which is reviving its occasional live broadcasts at the Saxon Pub.

KGSR on-air personalities Andy Langer, Kristen Kurtis and Kelly Jordan serve as hosts for the morning shows. Here’s most of the lineup, with a few spots still to be announced:
