South by Southwest ended on a sour note for a local indie rock band.
Members of Driver Friendly took to social media to ask for help locating about $15,000 worth of gear that turned up missing over the weekend.
A 6-foot-by-10-foot trailer belonging to the band has disappeared, the group said. It contained a one-of-a-kind guitar, a vintage coronet, several microphones and more than $4,000 in merchandise, among other things, according to a post on Facebook.
"This incident robbed us of the ability to do what we love the most: play music for people all across this wonderful country," the group wrote.
Driver Friendly is currently soliciting donations via Paypal to help cover costs associated with replacing the stolen gear. People who give $30 or more will receive a handwritten note and a limited-edition T-shirt.
"Remember: bad, horrible things do exist and happen in this world, but the good always outweighs the bad, the light always outshines the darkness," the band’s Facebook post said. "We carry on knowing that this is true. Long Live the Street Sharks."
