El Naranjo hosts esteemed Mexican chef Tomás Domínguez for a week of Veracruzian cuisine at the Rainey restaurant from September 16-23. Domínguez’ visit is part of the a weeklong Fiestas Patrias Culinary Festival organized by chef Iliana de la Vega’s restaurant, the Consulate General of Mexico, and the Lozano Long Institute of Latin American Studies at the University of Texas.
Domínguez, the owner of the Santa Cruz Café in Coatepec, Veracruz, will craft a Veracruz-inspired menu at El Naranjo (85 Rainey St.) for the week, with a $65 prix-fixe dinner kicking off the festivities on September 16. The week of events also includes a Foodways of Mexico Seminar at the Lozano Long Institute of Latin American Studies on September 17 and cooking classes at El Naranjo on September 19 and 23. Chef Dominguez will conduct the afternoon classes, which cost $65 and include lunch.
