Chefs Rene Ortiz and Laura Sawicki are part of the team turning an old East Austin Laundromat into all-day diner and grocery Launderette. The chefs will give a preview of the flavors you can expect from the diner at 2115 Holly St. at Southern Brunch this weekend. The brunch, part of Tribeza Style Week, takes place Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 .m. at Rain Lily Farm (914 Shady Ln.).
The menu will include biscuits with blueberry conserve and sorghum butter, griddled okra succotash, Veldhuizen Redneck Cheddar grits, kale salad, and glazed pork shoulder. The event will also offer cocktails, pop-up vendors and a bluegrass band.
Tickets are $65 a person (or $600 for a reserved table for eight), and proceeds from the Southern Brunch benefit Urban Roots. Tickets can be purchased here.
