UPDATE 8.27, 9:30 a.m. Tickets are still available to all ACL Festival aftershows except Beck at Stubb’s Amphitheater and J. Roddy Walston and the Business at Stubb’s Indoors. Team 360’s Eric Webb noted last week that Rhye at the Paramount (10/3) sounds fantastic, and after checking out Benjamin Booker’s great new self-titled debut which dropped last week I’m eyeballing the NOLA blues rocker’s Continental Club gig (10/10). More information. Tickets are (surprisingly) also still available to Jenny Lewis’ show at Gruene Hall on Weds. Oct. 8.
In 2013, the first year the Austin City Limits Music Festival went to a two week format, expectations for fantastic midweek roster of side parties were dashed when ACL Fest promoter C3 presents routed the majority of side parties to Dallas, Houston or San Antonio. This year, the festival did Austin music fans right with a spectacular range of aftershow options, most of which are clustered around the two weekends of the festival.
The party kicks off on Thursday, Oct. 2 with a concert featuring indie rocker Beck at Stubb’s BBQ which will likely sell out in minutes. Other shows that are likely to see fast sell outs include dub-step titan Skrillex (Oct. 10) and local fave Spoon (Oct. 11) at Stubb’s. With a ton of buzz about her fantastic new record "The Voyager," Jenny Lewis (Oct. 3) will also likely sell out the Stubb’s amphitheater quickly. Over at Emo’s, shows by Scottish electropop trio Chvrches (Oct. 10) and Tuneyards (Oct. 5) are likely to be hot tickets, and Mac DeMarco (Oct. 4), who recently sold out the Mohawk, should sell out his Scoot Inn show in no time.
A handful of artists who aren’t on the ACL lineup will be dropping through town for aftershows. Indie duo Tegan and Sara (Oct. 4) plays Stubb’s BBQ, British electro producer Tipper (Oct. 3) will play Vulcan Gas Company and Break Science (Oct. 5) will play the Parish.
Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday at 10 a.m. but there willbe a presale for subscribers to the C3 Concerts E-List on Thursday at 10 a.m. Drop by www.c3concerts.com/connect to sign up for the presale and www.c3concerts.com/latenight. for more details.10/2 Tito’s Hometown Shindig Presents: An Evening With Beck at Stubb’s Waller Creek Amphitheater10/2 Black Pistol Fire at Stubb’s Indoors10/2 The Eastern Sea and Roadkill Ghost Choir w/ Walker Lukens at Holy Mountain10/3 Jenny Lewis w/ The Belle Brigade at Stubb’s Waller Creek Amphitheater10/3 Rhye at The Paramount Theatre10/3 The Head and the Heart w/ Lucius at Emo’s Austin10/3 Tipper at Vulcan Gas Company10/3 Spanish Gold at Stubb’s Indoors10/3 The Preatures and Young & Sick at Holy Mountain10/3 Jon Pardi at Lamberts10/4 Tegan & Sara w/ Night Terrors of 1927 at Stubb’s Waller Creek Amphitheater10/4 Diplo at Emo’s Austin10/4 Mac DeMarco at Scoot Inn10/4 Temples w/ The Districts at The Parish10/4 Arum Rae and Emily Wolfe at Stubb’s Indoors10/4 Gospel Brunch ft.
