Doug Guller and his ATX Brands will open several Texas locations of Chicago-based Gino’s East next year.

Guller, who first came across the famous deep dish purveyors while living in Chicago in the late 90s, said he thinks the massive influx of new residents to the state makes Texas a perfect market for expansion.

"I’m just a big fan of Chicago, and I’ve loved Gino’s East for a very long time. And it’s such a unique product," said Guller, whose company owns and operates 10 Bikinis Sports Bar & Grills in Texas and Oklahoma.

The Austin branch Gino’s East, which Guller hopes to open by summer 2015, will be located downtown, though Guller would not give exact details on the location. ATX Brands will also open restaurants in the Woodlands, San Antonio and the Dallas area. Gino’s East will be the first non-Bikinis restaurant venture outside of Austin for ATX Brands, which also owns Pelons and Chicago House in Austin.

The Texas locations will feature the same menu of deep dish and thin-crust pies, sandwiches, calzones and salads as the Chicago locations, with a few Texas twists. Folks familiar with Gino’s East in Chicago will also recognize some similar aesthetics in the Texas restaurants, as Guller plans to allow customers to color some of the walls with graffiti as they wait on their deep dish pies.
