Brian Wilson will perform “Pet Sounds” in full at ACL Live on May 13, 2017. Erika Rich for American-Statesman 2015

[Update, Oct. 14, 4:10 p.m.: The May 13, 2017, show sold out quickly, but a second show has been added, on May 14, 2017.]

By the time Brian Wilson’s “Pet Sounds 50th Anniversary Tour” reaches Austin next spring, it’ll actually be the 51st anniversary of the monumentally influential Beach Boys album. Still, given that last year’s Levitation Fest washout nixed Wilson’s scheduled appearance here in the early phase of the tour, word of any make-up show is good news.

The new date — May 13, 2017, at ACL Live — is just three days shy of 51 years since the album was released on May 16, 1966. Tickets, $55-$133, go on sale Friday, Oct. 14, at 10 a.m. via the venue’s website.

The show is officially being billed as “Brian Wilson Presents Pet Sounds: The Final Performances,” though that appears to apply to the playing of “Pet Sounds” in its entirety, not a suggestion that Wilson is calling it quits after the tour. As was the case for the canceled Levitation show, this one will feature Wilson’s longtime Beach Boys collaborators Al Jardine and Blondie Chaplin.
