“I miss Rust Cohle, man,” Matthew McConaughey said in an interview with Rich Eisen on Wednesday.

But don’t we all? During his appearance on “The Rich Eisen Show,” McConaughey discussed his character and said he would indeed reprise his “True Detective” role if given the chance.

“I miss watching him on Sunday night,” he said. “I was a happy man while we made that for six months.”

Most people would agree that the second season of “True Detective” didn’t quite live up to the first, leaving the show’s future uncertain. But a third season was eventually announced, though no cast or filming plans have been set.

As McConaughey’s latest film “Free State of Jones” makes its debut on the big screen tomorrow, we’ll keep our fingers crossed that “True Detective” brings him back.
