Broken Lizard, the comedy troupe behind “Super Troopers” and “Beerfest,” tweeted a photo of the “Super Troopers 2” cast hanging out with Willie Nelson on Monday — presumably after Jay Chandrasekhar tweeted a security detail offer to Nelson.

Broken Lizard members Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter, and Erik Stolhanske reunited to make “Super Troopers 2,” after a successful crowdfunding effort last year raised over $4.5 million from fans. The group has wanted to make a sequel since the first movie came out, but Fox Searchlight (the studio that owns the rights to “Super Troopers”) did not allow it to happen right away.

Now, their Indiegogo page promises, they’re going back into production after taking a hiatus from shooting.

Nelson’s already smoked with Chandrasekhar while filming “Beerfest,” so it’s anybody’s guess what he was doing with “Super Troopers 2” cast. Or maybe, as Chandrasekhar said last year to the Chive, they’re planning the sequel movie, “Potfest.”
