Austin Music Video Festival kickoff at Alamo Ritz. Early this year, AMV Fest launched a series of monthly screening events celebrating the artistry of music videos as short form films and creating hype for the multi-day event that aims to connect Austin’s music and film scenes. The kickoff features the Texas premiere of Okkervil River’s short film/long music video “Down Down the Deep River” based on the 2013 song of the same name. Okkervil frontman Will Sheff will follow the screening with an acoustic performance. Parties, screenings and mixers continue through Sept. 19. $25 wristband includes entry to all events. 7:30 p.m. 320 E. Sixth St. austinmusicvideofestival.com. — D.S.S.
