The Nightowls close out this summer’s Sound & Cinema series at the Long Center on Wednesday.

Sound & Cinema with the Nightowls and “The Sandlot” at the Long Center. The final installment of the popular film-and-music series on the Long Center’s lawn features a nice pairing of throwbacks to classic 1960s American culture. Local band the Nightowls are gearing up for the September release of “Fame Sessions,” which they recorded in Muscle Shoals, Ala., in an effort to connect with some of the classic ’60s soul music recorded there. “The Sandlot” is a coming-of-age story about playing baseball in the summer of 1962.
