The documentary “Maestro” is screening at the Alamo Drafthouse as a benefit for local nonprofit Kids in a New Groove. Contributed by Newton O’Neill.

”Maestro,” a new documentary from director David Donnelly, is an exploration of the artistic process through the eyes of one of today’s top conductors, Paavo Jarvi. It’s showing Tuesday as a benefit screening for the Austin-based nonprofit Kids in a New Groove — an organization promoting music education to children in the foster care system.

The film follows Jarvi and a group of talented musicians, including globally recognized artists Lang Lang and Hilary Hahn, to provide a view of the classical music world that’s rarely seen. The evening will close with a Q&A with director David Donnelly.

Details: 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. $50. Alamo Drafthouse, 1120 S. Lamar Blvd.
