Nightowls album release at Stubb’s indoor. For their latest record, bandleader Ryan Harkrider and his oversized crew of Nightowls went straight to the source of the classic soul music they love to play. “Fame Sessions” was recorded in Muscle Shoals, Ala., at FAME Studios, where legends such as Aretha Franklin and Wilson Pickett made records in the 1960s. Though the Nightowls often dip into a deep well of standards at their local shows, “Fame Sessions” is all original material, steeped in the horn-driven grooves of the Muscle Shoals sound. $10-$12. 8 p.m. doors. 801 Red River St. stubbsaustin.com. — P.B.
