Carson McHone’s Songwriter Showcase at White Horse. For the third year, McHone has welcomed fellow local songwriters for a Christmas Eve bash that’s fast becoming one of Austin’s coolest holiday traditions. The action moves from the Saxon to the White Horse this year, with more than two dozen performers playing two songs each, including Roger Wallace, Jane Ellen Bryant, Ben Ballinger, Bonnie Whitmore, Graham Weber, Jaimee Harris, Jonny Burke, Kevin Galloway of Uncle Lucius, Jesse Moore of East Cameron Folkcore and Selena Rosenbalm of Rosie & the Ramblers, and Brennen Leigh & Noel McKay. Many will have CDs at the merch table, for those seeking last-minute gifts. Admission is free, with all band tips donated to the SIMS Foundation. 8 p.m. 500 Comal St. thewhitehorseaustin.com.

Also: ’Tis the night before Christmas, yes, but this is Austin, so quite a few creatures still will be stirring. The final day of the Armadillo Christmas Bazaar at Palmer Events Center features Bill Kirchen at 7 p.m., Durawa at 3 p.m. and Albert & Gage at 11 a.m. … Other venues open for business include Geraldine’s with Guy Town, the Elephant Room with Jon Blondell’s Jazz Orphans, Little Longhorn Saloon with Alvin Crow, and Saxon Pub with Bugaboo, Patrice Pike and CDGB.
