Step Afrika is performing at Huston-Tillotson University this week to launch the inauguration festivities of the university’s new president.

Launching Huston-Tillotson University’s four days of inauguration events — which are welcoming Colette Pierce Burnette as the school’s sixth president — Step Afrika is performing its step dance routines. The company was founded in 1994 as the first dedicated to the tradition of stepping, which remains a popular form of expression and entertainment today.

Step Afrika dancers will perform South African gumboot moves, as well as high-energy step routines.
