Jaye Rhee’s show at the Texas State art gallery explores the intersection of and tension between dance and music. Contributed by University Galleries.

For this art show, Jaye Rhee displays her four-channel video installation, “The Flesh and the Book,” which addresses the intersections between performance, video and sound. In the installation, original dancers of the Merce Cunningham Dance Company perform within a musical staff set made of five thick rubber bands, suspended at different heights yet equidistant from each other, to showcase the tension between dance and music.

She’ll have an artist talk at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, before the reception.

Details: Opening reception 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday. 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday-Sunday through March 10. Free. University Galleries at Texas State University, Sessom and Comanche streets, San Marcos. 512-245-2647, txstgalleries.org.
