How can four little letters cause such a big ruckus? If you’ve ever been in Austin in the spring, you know how. SXSW 2015 is coming.

Clockwise from top left: Run the Jewels, The Tontons, Night Terrors of 1927, Best Coast (Vic Michael; American-Statesman file photos)

Austin’s sprawling showcase for up-and-coming musical talent will run the town March 17-22 this year, and we already have a pretty good handle on which artists we can expect to see at the fest’s official showcases. The time for a little sonic research is now, and music writers Deborah Sengupta Stith and Peter Blackstock and I have curated this week’s playlist with tracks from some of the acts we’re most excited about — so far.

As usual, there’s something for every musical taste, like the indie pop of Alvvays and Ryn Weaver, the country folk of Whitehorse and The Stray Birds, and hip hop from Doomtree and Homeboy Sandman. As the lineup develops, we’ll keep adding tracks you need to know about.
