Quantum Collective announced a partial lineup for this year’s Southwest Invasion, a three-day free music event on the rooftop of the downtown Whole Foods. Two of the headliners are intellectual rapper Talib Kweli and Canadian electro duo MSTRKRFT and many more artists are TBA. Boss Babes,the collaborative networking collective for women that stormed the city last year will host Babes Feston Tuesday, March 15 from 2 to 10 p.m. at Salvage Vanguard. The lineup includes Lauren Bruno’s electro groove outfit Slooom, excellent local R&B artist Alesia Lani, Ian, High Waisted and more. Latino arts and culture Website Remezclahosts a party series called Perreo NYC featuring global urban sounds each month in their hometown. They’re bringing the show on the road for an official showcase at South by Southwest. The bill includes rising Puerto Rican hip-hop artist Audri Nix and Whitest Taino Alive from the Dominican Republic. The show is open to the public with an RSVP through the event’s Facebook page.
KUTX kids music show “Spare the Rock, Spoil the Child” is involved with a few free, public SXSW week events. On Wednesday, March 16 there’s the Family Music Meltdown from 3 to 7 p.m. in Pan Am Park with family-friendly acts Gina Chavez, Lucky Diaz, Mister G and more. Then on Friday from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. they host All the Children Boogie, an all-ages David Bowie tribute at the Scottish Rite Theater with a stellar lineup including Nakia, Riders Against the Storm, Jon Langford & Band, Joe McDermott and more.
