There’s more than ironic T-shirts and ugly socks at Urban Outfitters this week. Today, Space 24 Twenty, the recently opened courtyard space outside of Urban Outfitters on the Drag, hosted the second day of its free, all-ages UO Live in Austin SXSW 2016 day party.

Buzzed-about brainy indie-rockers Car Seat Headrest closed out the festivities Thursday afternoon playing to a relaxed crowd. Fronted by prolific young songwriter Will Toledo, Car Seat Headrest’s live show, like their recorded work, wholly hinges on Toldeo, whose sonic blend of beauty and brawn recalls Okkervil River. Lyric-heavy content like Car Seat Headrest’s doesn’t always make the translation to the live stage well, but luckily Toldeo rocks as well he writes.

Car Seat Headrest plays again tomorrow at 7 p.m. at Hole in the Wall and had at least two day shows on Saturday.

The free music at Space 24 Twenty continues tomorrow and Saturday and includes plenty of hip blog-touted acts like Hinds, Sunflower Bean, HÆLOS, Oscar, and DMA’s. The venue is kid and pet friendly. Full line-up and more info at http://www.uospaces.com/24twenty/austin-tx.

Urban Outfitters’ back lot has been a SXSW show space for years, but 2016 marks the first year of SXSW day shows at the new space.
