Last week, Fun Fun Fun Fest founder Graham Williams, who left Transmission Events to launch a new company earlier this year, announced the inaugural lineup and put tickets on sale for his new event Sound on Sound Festival. The three-day fest, set to go down November 4-6 will be headlined by Beach House, Phantogram and Explosions in the Sky.

Sound on Sound Festival takes place at Central Texas Renaissance Festival playground, Sherwood Forest Faire. In the initial announcement, festival organizers billed the location as 30 miles outside of Austin, but that’s not entirely accurate. From the Statesman office at Riverside Ave and Congress in Downtown Austin, it’s roughly a 42 mile trip which Google estimates would take us 50-55 minutes to make mid-afternoon on a weekday.

For folks who don’t want to make the drive each day, the festival is offering camping, but apparently fest-goers weren’t thrilled about the $99 (plus tax and fees) camping passes. Consequently, the festival has dropped the price of camping passes and is issuing partial refunds for those who already paid.

The festival plans to announce shuttle parking information and this week.

From the festival:

“We’ve been paying attention to y’alls feedback regarding our camping experience pricing, especially in regards to SOS being a destination festival. In response we’ll be lowering our GA camping passes to $75 + fees and taxes per camper. If you’ve already purchased your passes you should have an email in your inbox letting you know you’ll be getting a refund to cover that difference. Please hit us up at if you have any questions.

“Y’all’s safety and convenience are our top priorities, but to ensure those things are in place they need to realistic and financially on point for you. We didn’t come correct. We want you to party with us, cause it’s gonna be a bonkers weekend out at the ren faire, but it’s not gonna be if you’re stressing about dollars, accommodations, and more importantly safety.

“Long story short, thank you for your input, it’s with your help that we’re gonna have an amazing weekend together.”
