Dave Rawlings Machine at Paramount. Few performers have meant more to Americana music in the past 20 years than Gillian Welch and David Rawlings. So when Welch took a long break between records from 2003 to 2011, a 2009 release that put Rawlings’ name front and center was a welcome arrival. A second Dave Rawlings Machine record, “Nashville Obsolete,” came out last fall, and it’s a fascinating journey, with three songs clocking in past six minutes (including the 11-minute epic “The Trip”). Welch rides shotgun both on record and onstage when the Machine rolls into town for what’s likely to be an extensive performance, with no opener scheduled. $33. 8 p.m. 713 Congress Ave. austintheatre.org. — P.B.
