“Chasing Color, Finding Light” at the Davis Gallery is a series of new landscapes, interiors and still lifes by Laurel Daniel exploring the interplay of light and color. Contributed by Davis Gallery.

Artist Laurel Daniel is constantly challenged by the mysterious behavior of color and light, a subject she decided to highlight with “Chasing Color, Finding Light.” In this new show, she focuses on familiar subjects — landscapes, interiors and still lifes — while giving special attention to how they are clarified, sculpted and “colored” by light.

Her works explore the ordinary and the beautiful in both man-made creations and nature, like the white of a hydrangea blossom versus that of a floating cloud.
