Crooks, "Wildfire." Spiking twangy country with Latin accents of accordion and trumpet, six-piece local outfit Crooks extends a Central Texas aesthetic that stretches back through the likes of the Sir Douglas Quartet and Joe King Carrasco & the Crowns. Crooks’ sound bends a bit more toward the dark side, pulling in elements of spaghetti-western indie rock on 10 original tracks plus a cover of "The Git Go" by legendary Texas outlaw songwriter Billy Joe Shaver. Ease Them Pistols, "Bittersuite" EP. Seven songs from the trippy roots quartet that describes its music as "bootgaze." Release show July 9 at Hole in the Wall. Here’s the track "1000 Mile Love":
