El Gatillero

A new voice is taking over the afternoon shift on Austin radio station 107.1 La Z.

David Palacios, known on air as “El Gatillero,” will make his debut later this month, working from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Palacios arrives in Austin after a stint in Phoenix, where he had the No. 1 afternoon show, according to executives with Emmis Austin Radio, the company that owns La Z.

He’s also appeared on the Univision TV network’s “Sabado Gigante” program.

“We’re extremely fortunate to attract talent of this caliber to Austin, and we’re incredibly excited to have David join our team at Emmis Austin Radio and 107.1 La Z,” said Jose Gadea, the station’s program director. “David is the total package who connects with his audience on air, online and at events. He’s more than a ‘jock,’ he’s an entertainer.”

La Z signed on in 2009 with a regional Mexican format, playing artists such as Jenni Rivera, Joan Sebastian, Los Tigres del Norte and Vicente Fernandez.
