Ben Folds at Stubb’s outdoor. Transitioning from his ’90s alt-pop rise with the Ben Folds Five to a solo career that included occasional diversions such as collaborating with William Shatner, Folds has perhaps most notably sought to bridge pop and classical realms in recent years. Performances with symphony orchestras led him to hook up with New York chamber group yMusic, with whom he’s touring this summer in anticipation of their album “So There,” due in September. He’ll do old Folds faves, too, but they’ll sound different with strings, horns and winds rather than guitars, bass and drums. $30-$32. 7 p.m. doors. 801 Red River St. stubbsaustin.com.
