OK, the whole "Meow the Jewels 2," cat-themed remix album from Run the Jewels is not out, but rappers El-P and Killer Mike dropped the first single "Meowrly" today. The whole project, built around the group’s 2014 release "Run the Jewels 2″ but featuring cat sounds, came about because of a joke that caught the imagination of the Internet. It sounded like a great idea — when the rappers were high.
"We really (expletive) ourselves with that one," El-P told the crowd during an Austin show that went down at Red 7 shortly after the "Meow the Jewels" kickstarter exceeded its funding last year. "That might be the strongest argument against smoking weed."

El-P is the cat dude of the group. He was wearing even wearing a cat hat before the show last year. But when Killer Mike realized the extent to which cats run the internet, he got on board.
"I’m a dog person. I don’t want no beef, but I just didn’t know," Mike said before the show last year. "But once I understood I shut up. I got with the plan… Meow. I’m gonna dress my pitbull up as a (expletive) tiger."
Run the Jewels will be back in town for Austin City Limits Festival in October. No word yet on whether they will bring cats.
