Chef Tim Laneís Roman-style pizzas helped elevate Burn Pizza + Bar from being just another East Austin bar. (Tom McCarthy Jr. AMERICAN-STATESMAN)

The maker of the best Roman-style pizzas in Austin is on the move. Executive chef Tim Lane has left his post at Bridget Dunlapís Burn Pizza + Bar to pursue other opportunities in Austin. The chef has expressed interest in possibly returning to work with molecular gastronomy. After spending the early part of his career working at places like Asti in Austin, Lane spent nine years in Rome, where he worked as sous chef for Cristina Bowerman at the modernist Michelin-starred Glass Hosteria. Dunlap says she has yet to decide on a replacement for Lane.
