Just Blaze plays the Fader Fort in 2013. Ricardo B. Brazziell/American-Statesman

A slew of unsurprising, but still exciting artists were confirmed to be in town during South by Southwest week today and the SXSW hip-hop picture is looking hot as ever. In addition to today’s announcement that Big Sean will play the MTVu Woodies, we learned that hip-hop super-producer Madlib and Wu-Tang alum Ghostface Killah will both be at the Boiler Room/Ray Ban party. Both announcements are exciting, but not surprising. We learned yesterday that Freddie Gibbs, whose excellent album Pinata was one of the year’s best will an official SXSW artist this year and Toronto jazz outfit Badbadnotgood who collaborated with Ghost on the fantastic new joint “Sour Soul” were also confirmed to play.

Similarly, we knew producer Just Blaze would be doing a “Building the Beat” panel with Mannie Fresh and Young Guru but today we learned he will also showcase. And with the Rhymesayer’s 20th Anniversary panel programmed onto the conference, we all knew that Sean Daley a.k.a. Atmosphere would surely showcase.
