Follow the Statesman this afternoon and evening (Friday) on Snapchat for a behind-the-scenes look at an "Austin City Limits" taping with acclaimed rapper Kendrick Lamar.

He takes the stage at 8 p.m., and starting at 2 p.m. live updates of the rapper’s rehearsal and sneak peeks into the production control room will be on the Statesman’s Snapchat (add username "AustinStatesman"). From the palm of your hand, get a glimpse into the music experience of "ACL’s" 41st season.

The Statesman’s Snapchat effort is part of a partnership with the University of Texas School of Journalism in which students are using the video-messaging app to tell the story of Austin’s tech culture scene. The students will show the technology behind KLRU’s iconic show on Friday.

The Grammy-award winning Lamar returns to Austin after a 2013 Austin City Limits Music Festival visit where the musician, after releasing his breakthrough album "Good Kid, m.A.A.d. city," drew thousands of hip-hop fans. Lamar’s "i," off "To Pimp a Butterfly," won best rap performance and best rap song at the 2015 Grammy Awards.
