Alex Coke & Friends at the Elephant Room. Austin got an early Christmas present late last month when Congress Avenue’s long-running jazz venue quickly rebounded from a temporary closure after structural issues affected an adjacent building. Next month the Elephant marks 25 years serving downtown Austin. The Elephant doesn’t even take Christmas off, as renowned local saxophonist Alex Coke takes the stage with a few of his fellow jazz travelers. 9:30 p.m. 315 Congress Ave.
